Frans Weisz is a Dutch film and television director. He was born on June 15, 1938, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He studied at the Dutch Film Academy and started his career as an assistant director on several films in the 1960s. He made his directorial debut in 1966 with the film "Het Gangstermeisje".
Weisz is known for his socially conscious films that often deal with family and personal relationships. Some of his notable films include "Pietje Bell" (2002), "Leedvermaak" (1989), and "Een zaak van leven of dood" (2008). He has also directed several award-winning television dramas, including "Oud Geld" (1998) and "Weemoedt" (1983).
In addition to his work as a director, Weisz has also been a professor of film at the Netherlands Film Academy. He has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Order of Orange-Nassau from the Dutch government for his contributions to Dutch culture.
